Mayan Abdominal Massage

Rooted in traditional Mayan midwifery, abdominal massage is an intentional, external technique that supports the alignment and circulation of the pelvic and abdominal organs. It helps bring awareness, nourishment, and balance to the body’s center, encouraging ease and connection within the womb space.

Mayan Abdominal Massage is a traditional healing practice passed down through generations of Mayan midwives and healers. This work focuses on skillful, external massage of the abdomen, along with gentle softening through the hips and back, face and neck, and chest, to encourage healthy blood, lymph, and nerve flow to the reproductive and digestive organs. Pressure and technique are adapted to meet your body’s needs—sometimes deeply focused, sometimes soft and soothing—always with the intention of restoring balance and connection within the womb space.

Within my practice, this approach is distinct from, yet complementary to, Internal Pelvic Release and body balancing. Together, these modalities offer both internal and external pathways to support pelvic alignment, relieve tension, and restore circulation. Abdominal massage can be especially supportive during:

  • Postpartum recovery, helping with womb and pelvic realignment

  • Menstrual concerns, such as pain, irregularity, cysts, or fibroids

  • Digestive imbalances, including constipation, bloating, and discomfort

  • Or when reconnecting with the pelvis after trauma or disconnection

This work also holds space for the emotional and energetic layers of healing. Many people find that through this respectful and attuned touch, they reconnect with the wisdom of their womb and develop a deeper sense of grounding and presence in their bodies. By listening to the body and inviting softness where it’s needed, we can facilitate balance, flow, and a renewed sense of connection with the pelvic center.

After a session, the belly is traditionally wrapped with a faja to support alignment and maintain the benefits of the work.

It it is not recommended to do this massage if you have an IUD in place or if you are currently bleeding.

Plant balms

Drawing on the wisdom of my gracious teachers in Guatemala, I have crafted balms using warming plants and essential oils. These balms are designed to bring heat, circulation, and nourishment to the body during abdominal and pelvic work.

Yoni Steaming

Yoni steaming is a traditional practice that uses herbal-infused steam to support pelvic circulation, relaxation, and overall wellbeing. The warmth allows the therapeutic properties of the plants to be absorbed through the vulva and vaginal tissues, supporting the health of the womb and pelvis.

Each blend is thoughtfully chosen for its antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and warming qualities. A yoni steam can be added before an abdominal massage session to help the body soften, ground, and prepare for deeper connection and release. During the practice, you sit over a warm herbal infusion, wrapped in a blanket or towel, for around 15–20 minutes.
